Capability with oversight: the only kind of autonomy worth building
The interesting question isn’t whether an agent can act. It’s whether the system can explain the action, bound the risk, and recover when reality disagrees.

I’m Rodney Rees. I build practical systems where healthcare IT, local AI, and governed automation meet. The interesting part isn’t the demo—it’s making the work useful, accountable, and recoverable in the real world.

Automation without control is just faster chaos.
Selected work / 01—03
An ongoing body of work in memory, orchestration, and systems that hold up when people depend on them.
A practical operating layer for memory, tools, documentation, speech, and human-guided automation. Daily notes become a curated record of decisions and context; staged, bounded actions keep capability answerable to people.
Orchestration built around intended outcomes, clear ownership, and recovery—not simply sending more commands. Desk and office control experiments made the lesson tangible: stage the change, observe what happened, and make rollback boring.
Years in the operational details as a healthcare IT director, systems and network architect, and compliance wrangler. In high-trust environments, useful technology needs boundaries, evidence, and a person who owns the result.
Notes from the field
Build logs, operating lessons, and honest reflections from systems that have to survive contact with reality.

Behind the beard
I’m Rodney Rees: healthcare IT director, systems and network architect, compliance wrangler, automation builder, RASi founder, and the human behind PatriciAI, Splat-I, and AdminX. GeekTheGreyBeard is where those worlds meet.
I like sharp tools. I trust clear ownership more. In healthcare and beyond, modernization only sticks when the work is structured, the boundaries are visible, and someone can explain what happened when reality pushes back.
